IMVU will soon be launching a campaign called Cyber Heroes Avatar Information Network (C.H.A.I.N.) dedicated to educating users about Internet safety and promoting a safe, fun environment for everyone. While the education efforts will be targeted largely towards users under 18, a significant part of this campaign will focus on the need for a strong community where users of all ages have a way to express their support of safe internet practices.

The Cyber Heroes Avatar Information Network (C.H.A.I.N.) represents a chain of people keeping each other safe by not only staying aware of the issues, but by watching out for one another as well as themselves and it's something everyone on IMVU can be a part of. The goal of C.H.A.I.N. is to make IMVU a safe and fun place for users of all ages. Joining the C.H.A.I.N. isn't about changing what you talk about, or how you use IMVU... it's about showing that you respect others, that you will not ask anyone to do or say anything that makes them feel uncomfortable, and that you support others who feel the same way.
Being a member of the C.H.A.I.N. will come with special privileges too, like free stickers for your homepage, access to the C.H.A.I.N. members-only group chats, and a place on the C.H.A.I.N. buddy list so you can contact other members of the C.H.A.I.N.
*Important Note:*
C.H.A.I.N. has nothing to do with increasing restrictions, creating more rules or limiting content. It is about recognizing that everyone is on IMVU for a different reason and by respecting those reasons, everyone will have a safer, more enjoyable time. It is also about understanding that older, more mature users share in the responsibility for protecting younger IMVU users from people and content that they might not recognize as a threat.
*Other Information:*
The face of C.H.A.I.N will be Van, a new persona to welcome new users as well as help out C.H.A.I.N members. Additionally, C.H.A.I.N catalog items created by any interested developer will be sold from Van's catalog page with all proceeds supporting an internet safety charity, yet to be decided on. (Thanks to Holydust for the fantastic armband to start us off!)
