| · Problems with Installing IMVU |
I. INSTALLATION PROBLEMS:
I would first like to review with you how the installation process works because I know this can sometimes be confusing. If you feel this is where the error might have occurred, then please try installing IMVU again.
INSTALLING IMVU: A QUICK REVIEW:
After registering for the program and clicking on download IMVU, a Windows download dialog box should appear. The dialog box will have an OPEN button and a SAVE button. If you click on OPEN, then after the program downloads a window will automatically appear to guide you through installation. If you click on SAVE, then the installation process will not begin automatically. Instead, you must find the file that you saved, wherever you saved it, and then double click on it to launch the installation process that gives you the window that guides you through installation.
A COMMON ERROR MESSAGE:
The following is an error message you might have received:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NSIS Error
The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.
You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED). -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you received this message or something similar to it you should try downloading the program again, using a different browser if you can (try 'Firefox' or 'Opera' web browsers which you can use instead of Internet Explorer. Or use 'Free Download Manager' which integrates with Internet Explorer, and which will help restore broken downloads. Free Download Manager can be found at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/).
A second possibility for receiving this message is that you may have a virus or adware that is corrupting the installer, and you should download a new installer. Finally, it could even be the virus checker itself which you could try disabling.
II. FIGURING OUT THE PROBLEM:
If you have done all of the above correctly and you are still having problems with the installation process, please complete our General Help Request Form and let us know the following information to help us resolve the problem:
1) What exactly is the problem you are having?
2) What were the exact steps you took up to the point of having the problem?
3) What exactly do you see on your computer? Did you receive any kind of error report? if so, what does it say?
4) In addition to describing the problem you were having above, could you also include as much of the following information as you know about you and your computer. Most of the answers to these questions can be found on your desktop by going to START > MY COMPUTER > SYSTEM TASKS (upper left corner of the window) > VIEW SYSTEM INFORMATION (click on the GENERAL tab):
- Your AVATAR name: - What kind of computer you have: - The computer operating system: - The amount of RAM (computer memory): - The version of Windows: - Your internet connection speed (if you don?t know this, describe the kind of connection you have - modem, dsl, etc):
